Principal Deputy Director Allison Randall joined OVW as principal deputy director in June 2021. Allison returned to the Department of Justice after two years as the vice president for policy and emerging issues at the National Network to End Domestic Violence. She previously served as OVW’s chief of staff from 2012 to 2019.

Allison has been actively involved in domestic violence and sexual assault issues for nearly three decades, beginning her career as a direct service provider in North Carolina and Florida domestic violence shelters. She worked within the federal government for 11 years, including at the White House in the Office of the Vice President and at the Department of Health and Human Services Family Violence Prevention and Services Program. From 2000 to 2008, Allison advocated for victims at the national level, first at the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence and then as the Public Policy Director of the National Network to End Domestic Violence. She played a key role in drafting and passing federal legislation, including the reauthorizations of the Violence Against Women Act in 2005, 2013, and 2022, and the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act in 2010.

Allison is passionate about OVW’s mission and ensuring that its work meets the diverse needs of all survivors as it strives to prevent and end sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking.
